10 ways of working

We want our research to be welcoming and make a positive difference to young people. So, we asked young people how researchers should work.

  • this means:

    • staying proactive about potential harms and breaches in privacy

    • building knowledge to keep ourselves safe online

    • holding a duty of care alongside dignity of risk

    we practice this by:

    • sharing risks and having young people make decisions (dignity of risk)

    • having choices to use other names, initials or not be named at all

who’s responsible?

The whole program is led by Associate Professor Ken Pang (he/him) from Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) alongside a Program Coordinator and Stream Leads. Ken is a Paediatrician and an experienced researcher. Ken is supported by a brilliant youth advisory group and working groups.

  • by families we mean all kinds of families including chosen families, kin, siblings, parents, caregivers, foster carers and anyone else

    We use trans inclusively to refer to all gender diverse people, including those who are non-binary, agender, sistergirls, brotherboys, transgender, genderfluid and other terms people identify with.

    By young people, we mean anyone aged x - x.
